Dr. Kumudu Vitro is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Department at Mercy University, where she educates and mentors graduate students in counseling theories, techniques, ethics, and research. As a faculty advisor and CACREP Liaison, she plays an integral role in shaping the next generation of mental health professionals by fostering academic excellence and professional development.

Beyond her academic contributions, Dr. Vitro is a dedicated researcher with multiple publications, including an award-winning study that earned the AADA Publication of the Year in 2023. She has presented her research at state, national, and international conferences, contributing valuable insights to the evolving field of counseling.

Dr. Vitro brings a wealth of clinical experience from diverse settings, including private practice, intensive outpatient programs, and correctional facilities. She has worked with adolescents, adults, couples, and families from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, tailoring her therapeutic approach to meet their unique needs.

Her approach is integrative and evidence-based, incorporating, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),  Person-Centered Therapy, other empirically supported modalities,
